Nov. 20: MAO’S LAST DANCER, showing by RASBJ Film Club

The RASBJ film club invites you to a showing of "Mao's Last Dancer," about Li Cunxin who at the age of 11 was selected by cohorts of Madam Mao to study ballet at the Dance Academy in Beijing. In 1979, Li travels to Texas to dance there as part of a cultural exchange program; he secretly dates and falls in love with an American dancer. When the Beijing government calls on Li to return home, he marries his lover, defects, and is forbidden from returning to the country of his birth.
