ABOUT THE EVENT:

When was prostitution legalized in Beijing? Where is the first Ring Road? When did China get its first foreign ministry? Why did the concubines of the Emperor Jiajing try to kill him? When did residents stop using ration coupons in the capital?

Test your knowledge about the city you live in when the “Beijing Postcards Historical Pub Quiz” premieres at the Bookworm on Friday Sept. 7, in conjunction with the Royal Asiatic Society Beijing (RASBJ). This quiz is partly a talk, partly a gameshow. All questions relate to the history of Beijing. We strive to inspire curiosity and new perspectives on this fascinating city. The topics are rooted in archival research done by Beijing Postcards; answers come from dusty archives, not Wikipedia! But don’t be afraid — questions are multiple-choice.

For this premiere quiz night, co-host RASBJ will present a few questions related to the learned yet mysterious Royal Asiatic Society, which boasts more than a century of history in China.

Register your team — of up to 6 people each — and accept the challenge! Prizes include eclectic goodies (some in liquid form) from the Bookworm, Beijing Postcards, and RASBJ.
