Please join us for a viewing of “Riding Alone for Thousands of Miles”, a film released in 2005 and directed by Zhang Yimou.  It tells the story of an aged Japanese father who discovers his son – with whom he’s had an uneasy relationship since his wife’s death – has liver cancer. The father, played by Ken Takakura, travels to Yunnan province on a journey of self-discovery and redemption. Echoing a fable from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, the father’s pilgrimage evokes themes of family loyalty and legacy.
