“Beigou Village in Transition” With Jim Spear

WHAT: Beigou Village in Transition: A full-day tour of design projects around the village near Mutianyu.
WHO: Co-hosted by creators Jim Spear and Wenkai Zhong.
WHEN: June 3, Sunday, pick-up is 08:30 AM from Hilton Hotel, E. Third Ring Road, returning there around 17:00. The tour at Beigou will be 10:00 AM to 15:00  PM.
WHERE: Beigou Village, near Mutianyu
HOW MUCH: RMB 250 for Members, RMB 300  for non-Members. The cost covers round-trip transport, full lunch and a donation.

We’ll email you with payment instructions if you can have a place. Spots are limited to 15, with Members receiving priority until 18:00 Wednesday May 30. We’ll confirm your seat after receiving payment.

MORE ABOUT THE CREATORS: Jim Spear’s vocation is residential and hospitality design in rural China. He is best known for his”Great Wall Style” and for designing and founding The Schoolhouse and the Brickyard Retreat, a unique hotel and spa that’s a repurposed tile factory below the fabled Great Wall. Zhong Wenkai, partner at Spacework Architects based in Beijing, studied architecture in the U.S. and has collaborated with Spear on many countryside projects. They are the creators of a transformative village development project, which they’ll introduce to us in this unique on-site walking tour, including before-and-after comparisons.
