MORE ABOUT THE EVENT: Three experts in their respective fields will talk, for 20 minutes each, on their experiences while coaching Chinese youth to help bring them up to international standards. Discussion and audience QA will follow. The panelists are:

Qian Cheng – Music

Qian is actively promotes musical education in China and runs a scholarship programme which brings talented young musicians to the Salzburg Music Festival.  In August young attendees of a summer camp organized by Qian put on an exclusive “Magic Flute” performance, to which RASBJ members were privileged to be invited. He has been a member of the China State Opera Orchestra and China’s National State Ballet Orchestra, and founded the German-Austrian Culture and Arts Exchange Limited Company Beijing (Partner in China with Salzburger Festspiele). He studied with Prof. Leonhard Schmidinger at the Conservatorium Vienna Privatuniversitat and the School of the Nanjing Conservatorium.

Warren Leat – Football

Warren is Football Development Manager for the British Council. For more than two years in China, he has overseen the Premier Skills programme which aims to share UK football methodologies with Chinese school teachers to enhance their skills as coaches and educators. He has directed similar programmes in six other countries, and worked for the Stoke City Football Club in various community and football programmes.

Percy Gilbert: Fashion

Honorary Dean of the Ying Sheng Institute, Percy is known for his creative, innovative, and commercial men’s and women’s wear design. Currently he teaches fashion, art and design, with a focus on motivating and developing Chinese fashion students. He has worked with Alexander McQueen directly as assistant designer, and with Ben Sherman as senior designer.
