Feb 5, Thursday: Folklorist Huang Yongsong on “The Year of the Sheep”

You’re invited to a talk by well-known Taiwanese publisher and folklorist Huang Yongsong about cultural beliefs and expectations for the coming Year of the Sheep. In 1971 Huang co-founded the English-language magazine ECHO to promote traditional Chinese culture; the publication appears in Chinese as Hansheng, or “Chinese Voice”, and was named “Best in Asia” by TIME magazine in 2006.  The talk will be in Chinese, with translation, and is co-organized by the Courtyard Institute and the Royal Asiatic Society China, Beijing Chapter.
